Good Neighbours Coastal Car Scheme
WHO ARE WE?

We are a community transport service set up to help elderly and disabled people who are unable to access essential services because of genuine transport need.

We have been providing transport for people in Whitby since 1996 and have now obtained funding to expand the scheme across the whole of Scarborough District. We have over 50 volunteer drivers, over 500 registered passengers and in the year 2006-07 we provided over 7,500 passenger journeys covering nearly 65,000 miles.

WHO DO WE HELP?

If you are over 60, registered disabled, or are referred by Social Services or another caring agency, we should be able to help you. If you do not fit into one of these categories but have a genuine transport need, try giving us a call to see if we can help.

To book a journey call the number below nearest your location:

WHAT DOES IT COST?
A membership fee of £5.00 per year helps towards the costs of administering the scheme.

There is a mileage charge to cover the driver's costs for running the car. This fare is calculated by our booking officer when he has found you a driver. He will then tell you the exact fare, which you must pay to the driver at the end of the journey. In effect, you are paying for the running of the car while the driver is giving his or her time for free.

EXAMPLES OF JOURNEYS

To Doctors Surgeries.

To Dentists, Opticians, Chiropodists, Osteopaths.
